RAID 4 day Hero's Path - Path of Light Efficiency and Resource Requirements Calculation

I share with you my analysis on the new event launched by Plarium / RAID called Hero's Path - Path of Light.

See the analysis below & my conclusions are:

  • Not really realistic to complete this Event. Free-to-play can probably forget about reaching top rewards unless willing to give up a lot of savings - not recommending that.
  • It seems designed to further milk players' resources, especially to further milk Whales, because many FTP will quit when they see they are not making any progress.
  • If you do run Dungeons, we currently have Ice Golem Tournament ongoing. Otherwise Spider will give you also higher silver income.
  • If you are still doing the Champ Training event - Normal is by far more efficient, but it is more of a headache for many players.

Calculation showing it is best to wait for Guaranteed Events vs Void x2 pulling

I prepared this easy table to show that it would be best to keep shards and not pull during the current x2 Void weekend event.

As noted, in the past Plarium never offered Void Legendary champions during Guaranteed Champion events. But this changed in April when they offered Riho Bonespear for 90 Void Shards. This means it might happen again.

Then it would be better to gather shards for that because that event would yield expected value of 1.4 legendary voids versus only 0.9 of the Void x2 event.

Estimate of the last Champion Chase event Ancient Shards used and $ made by Plarium

In this blog post I estimate how much money Plarium made during the last Champion Chase event and how many shards were used by players. 

Update:

Some player feedback suggested I should be more conservative in the estimation. Therefore I have reduced several of the assumptions as follows:

  • I reduce by 20% the Local 100 Group points from 393,456 (based on the group I was in) to 314,765 points
  • This reduced the Total Local Group points from 2,754,190,711 points to 2,203,352,569 points.
  • Then it was suggested not to add the Global 100 Group points to the above as those players are already part of various Local groups. Therefore the Total Points are now equal to the above.
  • Then to further reduce the amounts I added average 500 free points per player to represent free points earned from fusing saved up champions.

The updated estimation is as follows:

Step 1: Points of Local and Global groups

  • Total points of 100 players in a Local 100 Group: 314,765 points
  • Total points of 100 players in the Global 100 Group: 10,183,604 points

Observation: I originally expected the Top player of Local groups to appear in Global, but this was not the case as there are a lot more Local Groups (see below).

Step 2: # of Players and Groups

  • Assumption (web research): Daily active users playing RAID: 1,000,000
  • Assumption: Participated in Champion Chase: 70% (I used this to reduce quantities just to be on the conservative side)
  • Final number of players for calculation: 700,000
  • Resulting number of Local Groups of 100 players: 7,000

Step 4: Total Points

  • Points of 1 Local Group x 7,000 Groups = 2,203,352,569 points
  • Total points together with the Global Group: it was suggested not to add the Global 100 Group points to the above as those players are already part of various Local groups.
Observation: sum of Local Groups is significantly more points/shards than the whales in the Global Group. 10,183,604 points out of 2,203,352,569 points represents 0.5%.

Step 5: # of Shards and $ spent estimates

Drop rates during x2 Ancient:

  • 1% is Lego / 500 points
  • 16% is Epic / 250 points
  • 83% is Rare / 10 points

Preparation of Total points for breakdown: 

Assumption: Average free points earned by fusing saved up champions: 500 points per player
Total free points used by players: 350,000,000 

  • Total points from above (total of Local Groups):  2,203,352,569 points
  • of which free points from prepared summons were: 350,000,000
  • Adjusted Total points remaining: 1,853,352,569 points

Result: Total points breakdown:

  • Lego:18,533,526 points / 37,067 Ancient Shards
  • Epic: 296,536,411 points / 1,186,146 Ancient Shards
  • Rare: 1,538,282,632 points / 153,828,263 Ancient Shards

Assumption: Average free shards used: 50 Ancient Shards per player
Total free shards used by players: 35,000,000

  • Total shards used: 155,051,476 Ancient Shards
  • of which free shards were: 35,000,000
  • purchased shards were: 120,051,476

Assumption: value of 1 Ancient Shard = $1
$ value of purchased shards during this 1 Champion Chase event: $120,051,476

TABLE / Analysis - Resistance & Accuracy Players must have

In this RAID Shadow Legends blog post I want to share with you my table / analysis of Resistance & Accuracy requirement for players. Using the Doom Tower to illustrate different levels of difficulty and showing suggestions for players.

TABLE / Analysis: Resistance & Accuracy Needed

Here are my observations in brief:

  • The famous 200 Accuracy which RAID players use for most dungeons will also get you deep into the Doom Tower, up to approximately Hard Stage 80. From then on the enemies resistances become higher and 200 will no longer cut it.
  • To get further the next "Stage" or "Tier" requires players to have 300-350 Accuracy. That amount will let players complete most of the RAID content expect the most difficult / top levels.
  • To complete everything the players will need a huge 550-600 Accuracy.

But please note that not all champions of the team need to have these Accuracy levels. Just the champions who absolutely must have it. For example if you are killing Soraph with Drexthar then you only need Drex with high ACC and since he has an Accuracy Leader Aura (+70) then he only needs to have 530 Accuracy.

CHART / Analysis - Maximum Speed of Doom Tower Enemies

In this RAID Shadow Legends blog post I want to share with you my chart / analysis of the maximum speed of enemies in the Doom Tower. This includes Waves as well as Bosses and is broken down into the current 3 Doom Tower Rotations.

CHART: Maximum Enemy Speeds in the Doom Tower

Here you can see the 3 Doom Tower Rotations (selected stages) separated by Maximum Speed in Waves and Boss Stages. Observations:

  • Normal difficulty on Waves is limited to around 100 Speed - should not be a problem.
  • The Normal boss stages fastest speed is dominated by the Grythion and Dark Fae going up to 190 Speed.
  • The top parts of the Hard Doom Tower Waves become significantly faster. Starting Hard difficulty speeds of around 150-160 go up massively to around 260 at Wave 119.
  • Bosses are a similar story but here also Bommal speeds up significantly reaching top speeds of the highest Bosses despite him being at a lower stage. To be fair Stage 90 should not be as fast as Stage 120 especially for an unbalanced boss like Bommal.
I wrote down a suggestion on the chart: "Target ideally from minimum 191 to around 200+ for your champions with your Turn Meter control champion with minimum 265 Speed"

Defence of RAID Bosses CHART by COSMOS

Here sharing a chart I made showing the defence of various important bosses in RAID Shadow Legends going from the lowest (Clan Boss) to the top insane defence values in the latest content introduced by Plarium.

The general tendency by Plarium is to significantly increase the defenses of newly introduced content blocking players from progressing thereby reducing their rewards (or significantly increasing the battle duration) and pressuring players to spend money to get stronger to overcome the level or shorten the battle duration.

CHART: RAID Bosses Defence values

  • Observe the massive difference between Clan Boss and the newest content - up to 10 times more defence than UNM
  • The Stage 20-25 dungeons were always considered as having very high defence. They now fall to average or below.
  • The Hydra defence values as well as those of the 3rd Doom Tower Rotation are insane.
