Christmas / New Year Events & Gifts RAID Plarium vs. Other Games

Here sharing the results of my research into the topic of Christmas and New Year Events and Gifts in RAID (Plarium) vs. Other Games.

What Plarium (RAID) offered:

Plarium offered a Login gift to players which they could collect in daily pieces during a 7 day period. The gift did not include any special items and was significantly less than previous years. Pictures below provided for reference.

On top of that they did not give the same gift for everyone, but made even cheaper / lesser gift (than the already reduced gift) for lower level players.

What other games offered:

  • Created fun winter mini game(s) for players (e.g. snowball fight); including rewards for players.
  • Special holiday-exclusive events/quests with special / non-standard rewards.
  • Gave Christmas / New Year Login rewards; usually standard items, not special.
  • Gifted Christmas / New Year - themed items / characters / decorations.
  • Holiday Bosses or Dressing up of Important Bosses into winter / Christmas / New Year theme.
  • Created a standalone/separate Winter map/area with various things to do.

And bear in mind that Plarium and their owners (Aristocrat) are hugely more wealthy than many other games / developers. Plarium alone has 1400 employees with a revenue of $303.5 million in 2020.

Some people mentioned/asked that there was a fusion:

  • There is absolutely nothing related to Christmas / New Year when it comes to fusions. Above is the announcement of the fusion which follows a regular fusion schedule. There is nothing written or shown or decorated or any of the champions in any way connect to Christmas or New Year. This post is NOT about fusions.

Question was asked about bastion decorations:

  • I offered a clarification: "Hi again, allow me to clarify regarding your point on bastion decorations. My research was about actions for players such as events and gifts. I did not search for purely decorations which do not do anything but which I find also very pleasant and this is one area I take for myself to learn and improve on. "

 My "Holiday bosses" category was not well described, I offered further clarification with an example:

  • My category of Holiday Bosses is bosses which are dedicated to Christmas / New Year and drop/give items. These bosses are created / spawned during the holidays. An example of this is Sinister Santa: http://prntscr.com/25tykpv
  • As different games are different, an equivalent theoretical RAID example of this would be a Christmas mini-Clan Boss which we could all attack or a Christmas dungeon boss, etc.
